Mary Gibble

President and CEO, Hancock County Community Foundation, Inc.

In the ten years of my leadership as President/CEO, the Foundation that I serve had tripled the size of its endowed charitable assets, operational budget, staffing, and overall community presence. I was exceeding goals and smiling in the process.

Unfortunately, the pace and stress were wearing on me.  What I didn’t realize is that I was wearing that stress every day through behavior that was not working for my staff.  I was unaware of this until departing staff members shared their concerns about how I managed.

The Executive Committee rolled up their sleeves and called me in to share that things needed to change. Fortunately for me, a member of the Executive Team was familiar with executive coaching.

In came Jenny Banner.  She was patient with me and helped me move through the stages of the grief I was feeling.  I learned through her expertise and deployment of effective tools that I wasn’t broken, but I did need to have a better understanding of my values, how those values drive my behavior, how I needed to communicate this information with staff, and how I needed to recognize their values so that I could communicate more effectively.  Jenny’s work with me was complimented by her recommended readings and podcasts.  My transformation into a self-aware, intentional creator of positive workplace culture, did not happen overnight.  Jenny spent 18 months with me.

Jenny continues to be only a phone call or text away.  She has become my organization’s “go to” for team building exercises, new hire DISC analysis, value identification, and more.  Her services are now weaved into our annual operating budget.

Thank you Jenny. You literally saved my life…and my job.
